On Tuesday, I’ll be in New York for the New York Review of Science Fiction Reading Series (click for times and directions). I’m excited to be reading with the wonderful Rajan Khanna, with many thanks to Amy Goldshlager who is guest curating the event, and to Jim Freund, executive curator. Doors open at 6:30 — event begins at 7. New York, I’ll see you there!
Friday through Sunday, I’ll be at the 77th annual Philcon.
I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone there!
Fri 10pm, Plaza II: SF QUIZ SHOW with Oz Fontecchio (mod), Chris Logan Edwards, Ian Randal Strock, Fran Wilde, Jim Freund and Stephanie Burke: We’ll compete against each other and the audience in our own version of the “Jeopardy” game show.
Sat 12pm, Executive Suite 623: READING with the wonderful Lawrence Schoen. Two readings for the price of one! And brownies!
Sat 3pm, Plaza II: THE HOME FACTORY with Mark Wolverton (mod), Fran Wilde, Alan Beck, and Earl Bennett: With 3-D printers and scanners, Home CNC machines, versatile mold making products and easily available resins, you now have the power to make (or copy) whatever you desire. What are the economic and societal ramifications when you can make what you used to buy?
Sat 4pm, Crystal Ballroom Two: THE SCIENCE OF STEAM PUNK with Christine Norris (mod), Neal Levin, Fran Wilde, and Thomas Willeford: There are plenty of stories (mostly set in a fantastic Victorian age) about incredible giant machines run on the POWER OF STEAM! But just how plausible is it? And if it IS plausible, why didn’t it happen?
Lastly – a heads up for December! Keep your eyes peeled for news about the first ever Baltimore Science Fiction Society’s Dangerous Voices event on December 7!
