Live, from Uncanny Cabin

Pro Tip: When editors extraordinaire Lynne M. Thomas & Michael Damian Thomas ask if you want to be an Uncanny Magazine kickstarter reward… for values of Kickstarter rewards that include a weekend at a cabin in the woods? You say yes.

Thought you all might like to tag along, so here’s picspam and various other implements of documentation. Including fanart (!), an accidental musical interlude, and a live Twitter play… read on, brave friends —

There was a lot of delicious food, thanks to our wonderful hostess Deb Stanish.

There were words (for me, about 5k total on the new novel). And walks. And long discussions with our new friend Anne (Kirabug on Twitter) about genre and writing.

Some of us (aka: me) noticed that twitter was having a musical moment and decided to join in, until all of us were earwormed with Les Miz… (but this was NOT my fault)

We played games, all sorts.

And, thanks to everyone who observed “What could possibly go wrong?” when we said we were doing this… we made live twitter horror theater. My favorite part? Mike Underwood blithely writing away while the rest of us died horribly at the hands [sic] of a deranged house.

Too soon we had to depart, but I am secure in the knowledge that we made this first UncannyCabin truly the first of many wonderful weekends in support of good writing and Uncanny Magazine. Thanks always to Lynne M. Thomas and Michael Damian Thomas for the shenanigans, and my occasional partners in various crime, A.C. Wise, Michael R. Underwood, Sarah Pinsker, (Max Gladstone on the Twitter), and the master of amazingly fast and excellent posters, Darren Radford.
